about

Jessica wrote the poem Hardest Winds in 2007 and presented it to Adam to turn it into a song. Adam took a few months to find the right guitar riff and song structure that was ultimately used. Later Joel added the lyrics to the 2nd verse.
Another interesting thing to note is that Adam and Jessica were not in a relationship until 2012, so this song has survived between them for many years, and was finally recorded now in 2016 almost a decade later.

lyrics

Send in your hardest winds or whatever you think is enough.
'Cuz this fire of mine is strong and tall, your wind would only build it up.
Build it up.

It's not hard to hold on when someone's holding you.
It's not hard to see when the light's right next to you, Sayin':
"Please rest your heart. The storm won't even start.
Not when I'm right here. Not when I'm so near to you. I'm near to you."

Oh my tongue is sayin' I won't let you be alone.
You and I can run from the twitches in our flow.

It's not hard to hold on when someone's holding you.
It's not hard to see when the light's right next to you, Sayin':
"Please rest your heart. The storm won't even start.
Not when I'm right here. Not when I'm so near to you. I'm near to you."
